Head Instructor - Lori O'Connell Sensei
Lori Sensei holds a 4th degree black belt in Can-Ryu Jiu-jitsu and has trained in martial arts for over 17 years. She trained under Ed Hiscoe Shihan (head of the art of Can-Ryu Jiu-jitsu) in Ottawa and with Steve Hiscoe Shihan in Chilliwack. She completed instructor training with O-Sensei Georges Sylvain and holds her full instructor's license.

As part of her involvement with O-Sensei Georges Sylvain's development of the Can-Ryu 2000 program, Lori Sensei was one of the main demonstration models in several of his training videos including The Persuader Key Holder Self-Defense System, Police Pressure Point Techniques and The Use and Application of Pepper Spray Against Dogs.

In addition to her martial arts training, she also carries Level-1 Coaching certification and is qualified to administer first aid and CPR in the rare case of class emergencies.

Lori Sensei has taught martial arts for over 15 years in Canada and abroad. She started teaching at her home dojo, moving on to teach at the University of Ottawa. She later founded her own club in Iwaki, Japan, where she lived and worked on the JET Program for 3 years, teaching both Japanese people and foreigners living there. Her students have been quite a mixed bunch, including men and women of all ages, sizes and backgrounds.

In addition to her Jiu-jitsu training and teaching, she has also written a number of martial arts articles and has recently completed writing a full-length book, Weapons of Opportunity, about her personal experiences teaching and training in the martial arts.

Instructor - Chris Olson
Chris Olson has trained in Jiu-jitsu for over 9 years, having achieved the rank of 1st degree black belt in Shorinji Kan Jiu-jitsu and blue belt in Can-Ryu Jiu-jitsu.  He has 6 years experience both leading and assisting in the instruction of classes.  In addition to his martial arts training, Chris is qualified to administer first aid and CPR in the rare case of class emergencies.
